Best of 2010

Every year it's fun to look back on all that happened and think about the blessings God has given us.  One of the reasons I love blogging so much is that it's easy to look back on each month and see what we were doing, what we were thinking about, and what God was doing in our lives.  Here's a look at 2008 and 2009 if you're interested! :)

In January we traveled to San Diego, California so that Mathis could attend a therapy conference.  We had a great time out there enjoying some warm weather before coming back to snowy Virginia.  We also got serious about our running in January, and I started watching what I ate.

I celebrated my twenty-fifth birthday in style during Februrary when Mathis planned a special evening for us in Roanoke.  We got some more snow, and we even climbed the Cascades on Super Bowl Sunday!

March was a tospy-turvy kind of month.  Mathis injured his shoulder while snowboarding, and instead of traveling to Texas over Spring Break we stayed in Virginia.  Then after months of preparation and excitement, I overslept my first half-marathon race.  We ended up going to Colonial Williamsburg instead and signing up for a race in April.

In April we started to enjoy some Spring weather and purchased a patio set for the deck.  I went to see Mathis teach his class, and we also went to a concert on campus.  I did a lot of running in the month of April, ending with my very first half-marathon!! :)

During May we celebrated our third wedding anniversary!  We both finished our first years of school here in Virginia, and I started summer school.  We also hiked Dragon's Tooth.

June was a relatively quiet summer month for us.  I was busy with summer school, and we did a lot of things locally like going to the farmer's market.  We also went to the Summer Solstice Fest in Blacksburg and ran the 5k together!

During July we celebrated Mathis' 25th birthday with a lot of friends.  We went to Washington D.C. with Mathis' cousin Cliff, and to Virginia Beach to see Dave Matthews Band perform.  We also took Cliff out to one of the local wineries.

We traveled to San Antonio in August to spend some time with our families.  We spent one Saturday in Roanoke going to the farmer's market and getting cupcakes!  That month we also started training for the Disney Marathon.

In September we made a trip out to D.C. for our first (of many!) Virginia Tech football games.  Mathis was awarded an amazing fellowship, and we began looking forward to another fall season in Virginia.

We carved a pumpkin with friends in October, and I went to a school psychology conference in Wintergreen.  We visited another local winery, and dressed up as Superman and Lois Lane for Halloween!

November was a busy month!  We continued cheering on our Hokies, and we went to a pregnancy resource banquet with friends.  We ran our second half-marathon of the year, and we traveled to Texas for Thanksgiving.

I think our favorite memory of December is cutting down our own Christmas tree.  I interviewed for a school psychology internship for next year and accepted the position in the same day!  We ran the Jingle Bell 5K in Roanoke, and enjoyed a quiet, relaxing Christmas together.

It's so amazing to look back and see what has happened in the last year.  So many great moments and memories were made... I would never remember everything so well if I couldn't pull it all up on the blog.  I'm grateful for this blog, and I'm so grateful for this year.  The Lord has really blessed us, and we desire to glorify Him through every day of every month.  I am so excited for 2011.  I know the new year will bring it's own share of ups and downs, but I pray that through each moment we will walk solidly in God's plan and direction for our lives.
